  1. Processor

    required

    Sets the socket and platform for everything else.

  2. Motherboard

    required

    Must match the processor's socket and memory generation.

  3. Memory

    required

    Capacity first, then speed within what the board supports.

  4. Graphics card

    optional

    Size this against the monitor you will actually use.

  5. Storage

    required

    An NVMe drive for the system, add capacity as needed.

  6. Cooling

    optional

    Air or liquid, sized to the processor's sustained load.

  7. Cabinet

    required

    Has to fit the board, the card and the radiator.

  8. Power supply

    required

    Headroom for the card's transient spikes, not just its average draw.

  9. Monitor

    optional

    Optional here, but it decides how much graphics card you need.

  10. Peripherals

    optional

    Keyboard, mouse, headset and anything else for the desk.
